Larry Orman, Executive Director Larry created GreenInfo Network in 1996, after 19 years as Executive Director of Greenbelt Alliance, the Bay Area urban planning and conservation non-profit. He's a passionate believer in the importance of compelling visual images for advocacy, public education and thinking about how to solve social and environmental issues (he also remembers long hours of magic marker coloring of paper maps while in graduate school at the U.C. Berkeley Dept. of City and Regional Planning - oh, for GIS back then...). As Executive Director, Larry develops projects and partnerships, and loves explaining to people the cool things that the GreenInfo staff can do for them. River rafting and backpacking with his son and wife are highlights outside of work, along with serving on the boards of Bay Nature, The Martis Fund and Sierra Watch, and leading PTA fundraising efforts in Berkeley schools.

Amanda Recinos, Associate Director Amanda came to GreenInfo Network in 2001 after spending three years at Puget Sound Regional Council working on GIS and database projects. Her interest in GIS was sparked at the University of Washington where she learned to combine the technical and artistic capacities offered by geospatial technology. She develops projects with clients, oversees operational management at GreenInfo and is a Filemaker and Access whiz, but she especially loves to take on complicated client proejcts that link data, analysis and visualization. Away from GreenInfo, she loves to hike, cross country ski, and watch the progress her worms have made in her composting bin.

Tim Sinnott, GIS Manager Tim Sinnott started as an intern at GreenInfo Network in the summer of 2006. Prior to living and working in the Bay Area, Tim was a GIS educator with the Community Mapping Program at the Vermont Institute of Natural Science. In his current role as GIS manager at GreenInfo, Tim spends much of his time working with clients to develop projects and, when he's lucky, gets to make a map or two! A proud student of former Middlebury College Professor Bob Churchill, Tim endeavors to bring Bob's thoughtfulness and humanity into his own cartography, design and data visualization.

Alexandra Barnish, GIS Specialist Alex loves the thrill of the game, from watching the Oakland A's to unraveling the story of a particular time and place with GIS and cartography. At GreenInfo she works on a wide range of mapping projects in both GIS and Illustrator. She is a Bay Area native and enjoys watching her son grow and experience the world. You can even find them at the park playing imaginary baseball. Alex holds a B.A. in Geography from UC Berkeley. Go Bears!

John Kelly, GIS Specialist With all due respect to the physics dept. at Princeton U, the pro cycling peloton of N America and Europe, and the fine Public Works workers at Contra Costa County, John has found his most rewarding work in the GreenInfo community—inspired and amazed by his coworkers' innovation and dedication while inspired and rewarded by the work that GreenInfo's clients put into action. John is a sucker for GIN's GIS amalgamation of scientific analysis, creative coding, aesthetic visualization, and public purpose. He's also a sucker for bike-camping, bike commuting, listening to snark-pop & femme-folk, and "eating" fruit-based frozen frapped lunches. [Ed. note: He's pretty much a sucker in general, so please don't take unnecessary advantage of his good-natured guilelessness.]

Stephanie Ding, GIS Specialist Stephanie joined GreenInfo in 2008, after working as Land Assistant and GIS Specialist for Peninsula Open Space Trust. A GIS Specialist here, she is responsible for cartography, data development and spatial analysis. Stephanie's a Bay Area native, and she loves exploring local open spaces, visiting beaches (even on frequent foggy days), and sampling San Francisco's amazing range of culinary experiences. On a sunny day, she can often be found in a city park with a book, a snack, and good company. One of her best life experiences was living in the Czech Republic where she taught English, which in turn taught her a great appreciation for being patient. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from Humboldt State University.

Jason Jones, GIS Specialist Jason is a GIS Specialist for GreenInfo Network and is the manager of the California Protected Areas Database (CPAD). In addition to being an expert on all the data editing that goes into CPAD, he works on a wide range of mapping and analysis client projects.
Jason came to GreenInfo Network in 2007, after four years in Ukraine working for an international education program. He has an MA in International Environmental Policy, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Panama and an English teacher in Chengdu, China. Camping and travel in the U.S. and abroad are key interests, and he can never resist picking up a guitar for a blues session.

Rhonda Friberg, GIS Specialist Rhonda is a GIS Specialist at GreenInfo, where she started in 2007. A Wisconsin native, she has a B.A. in Geography from Macalester College and an M.S. in Geology/Paleontology from the University of Minnesota. Before moving to California, she worked for the City of St. Paul on GIS and database projects. In addition to basic GIS and mapping work, Rhonda spends much of her time at GreenInfo developing web maps and other web-related applications, and can often be found knee-deep in various geo-spatial blogs. In her spare time, she loves to garden, sew, and dream up new craft projects - and to travel as often as she can. Joining her in the office (and entertaining everyone) is the furriest GreenInfo staffer, her dog Charlie.

Jennifer Strahan, Interactive Solutions Manager Jennifer Strahan joined the GreenInfo Network staff in the fall of 2005, after completing web mapping internships at the Association of Bay Area Governments (ABAG) and the US Geological Survey. While pursuing her MA in Geography at San Jose State University, Jennifer honed her interactive cartography and programming skills, experimenting with everything from ArcIMS to MapServer to Flash. She loves learning new tools and enjoys the challenge of finding the best solution for each unique project. Jennifer moved to St. Paul, MN in 2008 to escape the cold San Francisco summers and is thrilled to have summer BBQs where parkas are unheard of. She spends her free time exploring Minnesota with her husband and young daughter, building furniture, growing vegetables, and playing soccer.

Maegan Leslie Torres, GIS Specialist Maegan is just winding up a two year stint in Brazil, where her husband was teaching, and returns to GreenInfo in August, 2009. Louis Jaffe, Design and Multimedia Specialist Louis helped Larry Orman get GreenInfo Network off the ground in 1996, after working closely with Larry on Greenbelt Alliance's renowned "lands at risk" mapping system. A GreenInfo volunteer (and a board member), he brings a deep understanding of color, offset publication and graphic design to projects he works on as well as to the task of advising staff on their projects. With roots in Virginia and Colorado (and early video work in New York), Louis now spends a lot of his time at his house on the shores of Tomales Bay, in Marin County.
