SERVICES: Analysis of Information

When filtered and explained, data becomes information.

GreenInfo Network has extensive capacities for conducting GIS and related analyses of spatial and other data, including:

  • Geospatial operations (buffering, network analysis, etc.)
  • Database analysis (GIS databases including geodatabases)
  • Linking external data to GIS assessments (e.g., using Census data or other demographic information)

For example, GreenInfo Network created a method to link surveys of local officials and others ranking the importance of various demographics (median housing stock age, vacancy rates, and population densities, etc.) with that information, in order to calibrate a future growth model. The screen shots at right, top illustrate some of the complex analysis that went into this project.

GreenInfo Network works on a wide range of other analytical projects. These sometimes involve only GIS (calculating landscape statistics, creating prioritization models, etc.), and sometimes they involve using third party applications or separate database applications (More about our Database services here...).

Examples of this work are illustrated at the right as follows:

  • Defining population demographics for a land conservation strategy
  • Urban park bond analysis to determine populations served vs. original intentions
  • Defining critical habitat in Orange County, California
  • Legislative redistricting in San Francisco, California
  • Calculating visibility of hills from various viewpoints
