Data is critical to most organizations.
GreenInfo Network can help develop databases and applications that help you better manage information, and can also link those applications to GIS.
DATABASE DESIGN
GreenInfo Network staff can help you meet these challenges:
- Present your board and membership with consistent reports illustrating progress made and planned future work
- Track project information in a system that is intuitive, consistent, and comprehensive
- Identify areas of success as well as those that require additional attention
- Generate on-the-fly statistics about projects individually and as a group
- Consistently collect and store information that is currently scattered and in various file formats
- Apply a management framework to guide projects through phases, including scheduling and budget monitoring.
We can provide the following database services:
- Relational database and application design in Microsoft Access and FileMaker Pro (PC, Mac)
- Data conversions (e.g., XLS, DBF, CSV, and TXT)
- Visual Basic coding, including macros and modules
- Input masks and data entry formatting
- Duplicate record correction and data cleanup
- Setup of queries, summaries, and custom reports
- Graphical user interface and report design
GIS DATA
We also develop and refine spatial data for direct use in GIS, as well as integrating database applications with GIS.
Create Spatial Data: We create data for our client groups by digitizing (drawing GIS shapes on screen for example, taking the property holdings of a land trust and making GIS polygons out of them), and by geocoding (address matching lists of people or organizations, creating points showing the location of each person/group. We can also develop data by taking satellite or other aerial imagery and interpreting it into GIS layers, and we can help with using GPS (Global Positioning Systems) to create data in the field. For projects requiring more robust data, we develop geodatabases.
Adapt Your Data for GIS: Many organizations have extensive data about project sites, members, donors, service locations and other geographic information that we can adapt for use in GIS. In some cases, we build database applications (see above) that directly link GIS with that data, allowing you to generate spatial metrics for use in project management.
