A Plan for Habitat and Watershed Restoration

The Arroyo Seco Watershed in northern Los Angeles is characterized by a combination of natural landscapes and highly urbanized land uses. During 2004-2006 North East Trees led a team of contractors and agency partners in the development of a Watershed Management and Restoration Plan for the area. GreenInfo Network was asked to provide GIS support for this major effort.

GreenInfo compiled and organized data from a variety of sources to support NET’s water quality and habitat modeling, and also created an extensive library of printed and digital format map products that were used for internal strategizing and planning, communicating at public meetings and among partners, and for illustrating the plan’s processes and resulting priorities in the final report.

The map shown here illustrates the key implementation projects for the plan, and is one of scores of maps created for the effort.
