Energy Independence

One of the critical global issues facing the environment is the impact of auto pollution. While regulating exhaust is one strategy, the private foundation Environment Now is looking at an entirely different approach – encouraging the development of hydrogen-based auto fuels that have little or no environmental impact.

GreenInfo Network was asked to help Environment Now build a data base about petroleum infrastructure, pollution and related health information (including superfund sites, leaking under ground storage tanks, active wells, idle wells, orphan wells, refineries, terminal points, oil spills and more) , in order to make it more accessible to the general public. In addition, Environment Now sought to show a vision of what hydrogen-infrastructure might be.  

The resulting web site and images have been used extensively in recent political discussions about hydrogen strategies and remain easily accessible to the news media and public. The site includes web images as well as files for downloading.
