GreenInfo Network supports clients across a wide range of issue areas. While we have considerable in-house knowledge of many of these areas, we always use the expertise of our clients to first define the content of any particular project. But with so many projects for so many groups, GreenInfo staff are very skilled in understanding mapping opportunities and options in almost any field. Our primary focus areas are:

Conservation We use mapping and web applications to help others conserve biodiversity and protect forests, farmlands, parks, marine preserves and many other natural resources. More

Economic Development We link geography to the development of economic opportunity and to assessing the equity, environmental or other implications of economic development. More

Environment We help others understand and address climate change and pollution, improve land use planning and promote smart growth, expand access to recreational opportunities and support renewable energy policies and siting. More

Public Health We use mapping to encourage active living strategies, assess the geography of healthy food options, and analyze spatial patterns of community demographics and health factors. More

Philanthropy We support geographically-informed grant making with interactive and display mapping/analysis, including preparation of spatial priority assessments and creation of grant tracking and other display maps as well as preparation of on-screen presentations for trustee and related meetings. Note that many of our projects with foundations and other funders are not sharable publicly.

Government Agencies We assist public agencies with data development, preparing planning maps and analyses and improving web-based analyses and communications.  We have extensive experience working with state agencies for parks, fire, wildlife and land conservation, and many local and regional governmental agencies.   We also have a longstanding engagement with the U.S. Geological Survey's Gap Analysis Project, advising them on the Protected Areas Database of the U.S. (PAD-US) and other matters.

Human Services Locations for affordable housing, recreation, community services or other support for what people need in their daily lives drive our mapping and analysis applications in this focus area.  We also develop products that help deal with human rights issues and other challenges facing people.

Recreation Over the years as we have developed deep expertise managing protected areas data, we've also become deeply involved in projects that help people find fun things to do in those protected areas. From poster maps connecting people to trails by transit to mobile apps with realtime location data, we help nonprofits and agencies across the country get people outdoors and active. More
