Client: Rivers and Lands Conservancy

The Rivers & Lands Conservancy (RLC) asked GreenInfo to develop a set of highly detailed poster maps of Western Riverside and San Bernardino counties. The Conservancy, as part of broadening its mission, needed our help to support the development of an agricultural mitigation and conservation easement program for this area. Formerly the Riverside Land Conservancy, RLC has expanded its focus area in Southern California north through a large region of desert and mountains.

Through a California Farmland Conservancy Program grant, RLC set out produce several GIS based maps to gain a comprehensive view of the region it decided to expand into, beyond its initial Riverside County focus. This very large new region had several resources of particular interest to RLC: the agricultural landscape, habitat patterns, conservation policies, and other relevant land uses and issues within the project area.

GreenInfo gathered datasets from multiple sources to ultimately create 5 print maps for the region highlighting: Conservation, Agriculture, Habitat Land Use and Water Resources. The maps were designed to be large poster prints and feature very careful cartography that highlights the region (using a feather technique) and clearly shows the thematic information on the land.

Additionally, we created a web-based layer viewer, which allowed RLC to interact with the data down to the parcel level.
