Client:   Envision-Transform-Build East Palo Alto

GreenInfo worked with Urban Habitat (through the Great Communities Collaborative) to create maps used for community workshops to inform and get feedback from the community of East Palo Alto on the Ravenswood Business District Specific Plan.

For more than three years, the Envision-Transform-Build East Palo Alto Coalition has been engaging East Palo Alto Residents to work on the planning process for the Ravenswood Business District Specific Plan. GreenInfo worked closely with Urban Habitat who worked with the community of East Palo Alto to create thematic maps that would be used for community planning. Maps that showed transportation, building zoning heights were used to help the community of East Palo Alto vision how the development would best serve their community.  A result of the first few community workshops were three different land use scenarios which were refined in several more community workshops. The final plan was presented to the city council planning commission and was approved.

Results: The East Palo Alto City Council approved the Ravenswood Business District Specific Plan that Urban Habitat and Envision-Transform-Build East Palo Alto Coalition partners CDI, Peninsula Interfaith Action, and YUCA worked on for more than three years to help pass. Passage of the Plan could lead to much-needed job and housing opportunities for a community with many unemployed residents and overcrowded homes.
