Client:   Shared Use Mobility Center

When the Shared Use Mobility Center (SUMC) needed to transform their existing online Policy Database into a new, more expansive Learning Center, they engaged GreenInfo Network to do a complete design and build process. The final product is a content-rich, mobile-friendly Wordpress-powered website.

We started with an assessment of their existing content, a user survey, and a series of interviews to make sure we understood the needs the site was serving. Then we developed a series of interactive wireframes in Adobe Xd, which we also showed to users. Finally, we designed and built the site using Wordpress, with careful use of plugins, a custom theme, and data-driven templates for dozens of Regional Profile pages that combine Wordpress content management with data highlights, charts, and maps that draw on data from a Google Sheet and Census APIs.

The result is a powerful website that SUMC staff can manage and edit themselves, from fine tuning photo captions to uploading new data powering what will eventually be more than 100 metro area profile pages.

SUMC also tested the site with stakeholders who had visual impairments, who provided helpful feedback in making the site easily navigable users who rely on screen-readers. Additional tools for increasing contrast and highlighting links ensure the site is broadly accessible regardless of ability.
