Redesigning the Mobility Learning Center

Client:   Shared Use Mobility Center

In 2018, GreenInfo migrated the Policy Database created by the Shared Use Mobility Center (SUMC) to the new Mobility Learning Center. In 2021, SUMC returned to GreenInfo to provide the MLC with a large facelift and reorganization based on user feedback and a new vision for the future of the MLC.

We started with a discussion about the future goals of the site and conducted user interviews to ensure SUMC’s goals aligned with their users. Then we developed a series of interactive wireframes in Adobe Xd, which we also showed to users. We migrated the site to Pantheon, which allowed us to work on the updates in a staging environment. Other than that, the WordPress infrastructure was largely left in-place.

We used an iterative approach to design, building out and revising different sections of the site. We were also able to develop the site using an agile methodology, rolling out updates section by section.

The Metro Profiles page received a significant overhaul, incorporating many more statistics and information on mobility usage across the largest 25 metropolitan areas in the United States.

SUMC also tested the site with stakeholders who had visual impairments, who provided helpful feedback in making the site easily navigable users who rely on screen-readers. Additional tools for increasing contrast and highlighting links ensure the site is broadly accessible regardless of ability.
