The Learning Policy Institute, for whom we'd recently developed a national teacher workforce map, came to us with a rare GreenInfo project that doesn't involve a map, but does draw on our extensive interactive design and development experience: A dynamic calculator to help teachers, administrators, and policymakers understand the total costs of losing and rehiring teachers each year.
Working closely with Learning Policy Institute's expert staff and designer, we created an embedded application which sits seamlessly inside the parent learningpolicy.org website. The application, built with the React Javascript framework, includes fully "stateful" URLs, dynamic share links, and a version anyone can embed on their own site. The stateful URLs capture all the settings users choose, so when they share the interactive link, others will see exactly what they are seeing. We also developed custom Google Analytics events, so Learning Policy Institute web staff can track results and see how deeply their audience is engaging with the new tool.
