As Associate Director, Maianna leads both our GIS team and our public data work, helping build relationships and support for the California Protected Lands Database, Conservation Easements Database, and School Campus Database. Since starting at GreenInfo, Maianna has been managing the California Protected Areas Database, a project that includes all of her favorite things:  working closely with data contributors, process documentation, quality control measures, and best of all, hearing from users. Maianna also manages projects small and large for a range of clients, and leads GIS work on large-scale interactive projects.

Before joining GreenInfo in 2015, Maianna was a GIS Specialist in private consulting and land use planning, working on infrastructure and other public works projects. She has a BA in Development Studies from UC Berkeley and an MA in Geography from George Washington University - for her master's degree, her thesis research explored the foreclosure crisis in Stockton, using spatial analysis to identify hotspots and their neighborhood implications. She enjoys applying GIS to social science, and talking to organizations about what GIS can do for them. Maianna grew up in Berkeley, and spends her free time taking her son Henry to her favorite parks around the Bay Area.
